Yumiko Shaku stars as our heroin, Izuko, the Gatekeeper of the "Urami no Mon" (The Gate of Vengeance) which separates this world from the afterlife. When someone comes to her after having died because of murder, or other unnatural circumstance, she presents them with three choices: 1. to abandon their hatred and go forth to the eternal paradies; 2. to not accept their death and wander the world of the living as a ghost; 3. or to avenge their own death with a curse on their killer, but go straight to Hell. This movie is an excellent prequel to the television series that deepens the story of the Izuko character, who used to be an ordinary woman and details how she became the Gatekeeper of that place which sits between the living world and the afterlife.
